Artist Jenny Foxton’s new exhibition explores ‘fragile’ Australian landscape at Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery

The Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery will host a new exhibition from local art Jenny Foxton, whose work explores the fragile nature of the Australian landscape.

Toowoomba artist Jenny Foxton has drawn on the fragility of the Australian environment as the inspiration for a new body of work, Landscapes of Change, which is on display at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery until February 14.

Ms Foxton said her solo exhibition reflected the deep layers of humans’ relationships with the landscape, both in harmony and in conflict with nature.

She said growing up in the bush had provided her with a deep reverence for the natural environment.

“My connection with the environment inspires my work, but I now feel it as a deep sense of loss when I witness environmental decline,” Ms Foxton said.

Ms Foxton said the work examined the beauty, fragility and resilience of the Australian environment that was so frequently devastated by drought, fire and floods.

Jenny Foxton lives and creates her works in the region and has been a practising artist for more than 15 years.

She will host her own ‘Meet the Artist’ day at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery on Saturday at 1.30pm.

Residents are invited to meet Jenny and learn more about her artistic practice and work.

The gallery is open from 10.30am to 3.30pm, from Tuesday to Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Admission is free.
