Coffee sales to help support struggling dairy farmer

Toowoomba cafe Urth has announced it will donate $1 from every coffee sold today and over the weekend to a local dairy family.

Great reason to buy a coffee

TOOWOOMBA cafe Urth has announced it will donate $1 from every coffee sold today and over the weekend to a local dairy family.

Owner Jules Forster said the funds would go to the Gamble family, who runs a dairy farm at Boodua.

Farm owner Ashley Gamble last week said the farm only had days left of feed and was struggling to stay afloat.

"We just saw their story and thought it would be great to try and help a local family rather than put it in a pool," Ms Forster said. "We are family run, we get a lot of families in here, that's why we wanted to do it.

"We also get a lot of country people in here and a lot of people are struggling. We also use fruit, veggies, milk; we need farmers because we need that stuff."

Ms Forster said the business would also donate food scraps to the Gambles for the pigs they had on their property.

Mr Gamble said he really appreciated Urth's support.

"It all helps," he said. "Without people's support we wouldn't see this through."

Urth is open until 3pm today and 1pm at the weekend.

News Corp, the publisher of The Chronicle, has launched a state-wide drought appeal. To donate to the Queensland Drought Appeal go to www.qlddroughtappeal.com.au or SMS "drought" to 0484 200 200.
