A NIGHT out with friends ended badly for Robin Isaak Gould when he crashed his car while drink driving in Toowoomba's CBD.

CitySafe cameras recorded the 21-year-old's Hyundai sedan travelling at speed east on Margaret St about 12.28am, December 30.

The car veered into the middle of the street outside McDonald's Restaurant, hit the centre island and became airborne, landing on the wrong side of the road before correcting as it went through the Victoria St intersection.

Gould and two male friends were seen walking away from the car which had sustained extensive damage to its front wheels.

Police found the trio soon after and Gould admitted to having been the driver, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

Prosecutor Sergeant Karen Kroon told the court Gould blew a breath/alcohol reading of 0.132.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and drink driving.

His solicitor Phil Stainton said Gould's licence had been suspended immediately and he had since been riding a bicycle from his Harlaxton home to work in Highfields.

Magistrate Damian Carroll fined Gould $2250 and disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driver's licence for 20 months.
