ONE TOOWOOMBA eatery has been forced to close its doors after a failed food safety inspection, according to Toowoomba Regional Council food safety inspectors.
771 inspections have been conducted on cafes and restaurants in Toowoomba in the last 12 months, yielding promising results for most businesses in the town.
A council spokesman said 636 businesses were found to be satisfactory in these inspections, but 135 businesses received an improvement notice for not complying with the food standards code.
The spokesman said the issues that resulted in the businesses receiving improvement notices were related to "failure to comply with the food safety standards for example cleaning or access to handwash basin."
The name of the business forced to shut up shop was not disclosed by council.
The council spokesman said all information on how to comply with food standards and any further information was contained within the local government toolbox.
