CHRONICLE readers have fired up over news that Toowoomba shopping centres are the worst in the state for car park bingles.

RACQ data released yesterday shows almost 1000 shopping centre car park vehicle damage claims were recorded in Toowoomba during that period, worth more than $1.6 million.

Toowoomba had 917 claims over the three year period, miles ahead of the next-worst shopping centre for vehicle damage damage - Chermside - which managed only 609 claims.

Taking to social media, Neall Gormick said Toowoomba residents "can't drive".

"It's not new information, not one person in this city should have a licence," he said.

Darryl Ostrofski said every dint in his car was from shopping centres, "despite... always parking at the furthest car park."

Sally-Anne Pyle had to spend $1200 on a new tailgate because people kept hitting it in car parks.

Bri Smith regaled readers with a recent horror car park bingle.

"This is so true! Just the other day I had an old man reverse back into my car while it was parked," she said.

"I watched the whole thing, and couldn't understand how he did not even see my car. Very scary."

Other readers offered to analyse the statistics.

"A lot of slow older drivers with a lot of fast moving younger drivers makes a good recipe for this type of stat," Peter Terrill said.

And amid the whitewash of car park bingle stories, there was a lone voice of dissent.

"I've lived around Tmba for 44 years and never had a problem. We have an amazing city," Judy Penfound said.
