A GRAIN and seed research company has proposed changes to its specialist testing laboratory in Toowoomba to the council.

Applicant AgEtal Pty Ltd has submitted plans to alter its "grain testing lab" in an industrial shed on Carroll St in Wilsonton to the Toowoomba Regional Council last week.

According to the report by Precinct Urban Planning, the new laboratory will include more work areas and other amenities.

"A range of specialist seed and grain analytical services will be provided including germination and purity testing, GTA, export compliance, protein analysis, seed pathology and nematology," the report said.

"The development will not involve any works external to the existing building footprint on site, and accordingly will not result in any additional site coverage or impervious areas.

"The internal layout of the existing ground floor will be altered to include multiple work rooms and a bathroom.

The new mezzanine level (office level) will have a GFA of 95.5 sqm and will include a

reception, two offices, quarantine room, boardroom and kitchen."

The lab will employ between four and five people at any time, with no visitors allowed samples delivered by courier or post.

According to its website, AgEtal offers a range of specialist agricultural testing services.

"AgEtal is committed to performing tests to the highest possible standard, providing you with timely results, and maintaining a personal touch in our customer service," the website said.
