The CBD revitalisation advisory committee was formed as part of the chamber's platform to contribute to the renewal of the CBD as a destination and to ensure its significance as a Toowoomba jewel and small business hub is never forgotten.

This jewel sits in the traditional heart of a magical city, with its four distinct and beautiful seasons.

A city that sits majestically on the crest of the Great Dividing Range, overlooking southeast Queensland.

A city of parks nestled in tree-lined streets.

A city where quality local produce is celebrated in the diverse eateries.

A city with more than 15,000 businesses.

We all know the CBD's potential opportunities are endless.

It has an abundance of heritage-listed architecture which is a must-see for any heritage or architect buff.

And an intricate and layered network of streets and laneways, typically a haven for small business operators, that are filled with extraordinary artworks, hidden bars and coffee shops.

It is a jewel, that needs a tender hand and a thriving small business community.

The committee understands the city centre will always adapt and change, in rhythm with people's preferences for living, interaction and entertainment.

The committee has started its work on seeking the views of the business community to ensure the business voice is heard.

The business views will enable the preparation of a CBD advocacy plan for consideration by the chamber board and ultimately the policy makers.

Suggestions provided to date relate to inner-city living, short-term activation, a review of incentives, catalytic development opportunities, an independent entity to oversee the CBD and a well-defined community meeting place.
