THE group behind the $600 million Grand Central redevelopment has revealed it wants to build a car wash at the top of the centre.
Grand Central centre manager Shaine Beveridge confirmed a development application had been submitted to Toowoomba Regional Council to establish a car washing facility within one of the centre's existing car parks.
"The application submitted to council proposes to establish a rooftop car wash adjacent to the Clifford St car park entry," Mr Beveridge said.
"The proposed washing facilities will occupy a small area and will feature an open-air washing and detailing area, and a small number of bays designated for car wash customers.
"Many centres across the country provide a car washing service while their customers visit and this proposal seeks to further reinforce Grand Central's position as Toowoomba's unrivalled retail, leisure and entertainment destination."
Mr Beveridge said works on the centre's redevelopment progressed well with a fourth crane to be established on the site soon.
"Our contractor, Probuild, continues to push on with construction works which have recently included installing elements of the façade along Margaret St," he said.
Works on the Gardentown site will cease for Christmas and will resume early in the New Year.
