Camilla struck down with Covid for a second time, forced to pull out of engagements

The Queen Consort has contracted Covid-19 for the second time, and has had to pull out of her public engagements, Buckingham Palace has announced.

The Queen Consort has been forced to pull out of her planned engagements after being struck down with Covid-19 again.

Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying the Queen Consort was suffering from a “seasonal illness” Monday local time.

Camilla, 75, was due to travel to the West Midlands, the second most populous county in England after London.

“After suffering the symptoms of a cold, Her Majesty The Queen Consort has tested positive for the Covid virus,” the statement said.

“With regret, she has therefore cancelled all her public engagements for this week and sends her sincere apologies to those who had been due to attend them.”

The Queen Consort had planned to visit Elmhurst Ballet School on Tuesday on a solo trip to celebrate its 100th anniversary with students, staff and alumni.

But she pulled out of the visit after testing positive for coronavirus.

Doctors have ordered the wife of King Charles III to stay isolated and to rest at home for the next two days.

Camilla was also due to visit Southwater One Library in Telford to thank staff and representatives from local outreach and voluntary groups but that trip has also been postponed now.

Buckingham Palace said it is hoped a new date could be found soon for the deferred events.

Camilla is hoping to improve ahead of a joint visit to the city of Milton Keynes on February 16 with King Charles.

The royal couple were last seen together in public at an event on February 8 when they attended a mosque in London.

Camilla is set to be crowned alongside her husband, King Charles, in a joint coronation on 6 May.

Plans are now being put in place for the King’s three-day coronation bonanza.

There will be two royal processions in central London as fans flock to the capital to see the King being crowned.

A blockbuster concert featuring global pop icons, who may include Sir Paul McCartney and Queen, is also planned at Windsor Castle.

The events will take place on Saturday May 6, Sunday May 7 and Monday May 8, which has been declared a bank holiday to mark the Coronation.
