Tourists and fishermen have been left stunned on after a man in a white Toyota sedan drove up a popular Aussie tourist location.
Mareeba fisherman Aaron Locke was fishing with his brother-in-law on the Palm Cove Jetty when the incident occurred around 3pm.
He said he was stunned to watch the man drive down.
“Was a bit unbelievable at first watching old mate drive up the jetty,” Mr Locke said.
“A couple of blokes went up and explained the error of his ways and he managed to reverse out.”
Mr Locke said he didn’t know if the driver was a local or tourist who had taken a wrong turn.
“I honestly don’t know if he just had a brain fart and wanted to drive up the jetty or a tourist following Google maps,” he said.
“If nobody had said anything, I was wondering how far he’d have driven up the jetty.”
He said the area as mostly full of tourists who had jumped out of the cars way.
“I’m just glad there were no kids around because before that there were a few (kids) around,” he said.
