Two teenagers have been arrested after an alleged break and enter spree in a stolen HiLux over the past week on Thursday Island.

Two teenagers have been arrested after an alleged break and enter spree in a stolen HiLux over the past week on Thursday Island.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of break and enters on Douglas St on Thursday Island last week.

Police will allege overnight on January 22, a 17-year-old Atherton boy and a 19-year-old Thursday Island man broke into a Douglas St licenced premises and stolen a quantity of tobacco products and alcohol.

It is further alleged the pair were in a Toyota HiLux stolen from another Douglas Street property around 2.30am.

Earlier the same day, the two offenders and a third person attempted to enter another Douglas Street licenced premises.

On January 23, detectives from Thursday Island Criminal Investigation Branch and Child Protection and Investigation Unit executed search warrants at multiple Thursday Island addresses.

On January 30, a storage room at a Douglas Street licenced premises was allegedly broken into and various property was stolen.

The 17-year-old Atherton boy was charged with two counts each of enter with intent and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of attempted enter premises.

He is scheduled to appear in the Thursday Island Children’s Court at a later date.

The 19-year-old Thursday Island man was charged with two counts each of enter with intent and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of attempted enter premises.

He is scheduled to appear in the Thursday Island Magistrates Court on February 22.

Police have thanked members of the Thursday Island community for their assistance.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information or vision relating to recent break and enters to licenced venues and the theft of motor vehicles to contact them.
