A SUV has been left on its roof after a crash involving three cars in the middle of the Cairns CBD with police, fireys and paramedics rushing to the scene.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Grafton and Spence Streets in the Cairns CBD at 1.12pm after a silver SUV was rolled onto its roof after a collision involving two other cars.
One witness who was working in a coffee shop nearby said while they didn’t see the accident they heard the large “boom”.
“We heard the noise and it looks pretty bad but it looks like everyone is OK, we saw them walk out,” he said.
Police could be seen speaking with the car’s occupants taking their reports of the incident as fire crews and tow vehicle operators began to clear up the scene.
Along with the silver SUV laying on its roof a Holden Commodore sedan and a Volkswagen Golf both lay on the street with significant damage to the front of each vehicle.
A Queensland Ambulance Services spokesman said that paramedics were treating two patients at the scene but said it appeared that there were no significant injuries and they were in a stable condition.
Paramedics were still on scene at the time of reporting.
Traffic control is being conducted by police while the scene is cleared.
