A down on their luck couple from Victoria will soon board their very first flight as they head to Port Douglas for the trip of a lifetime.

Giving Santa a run for his money, Melbourne siblings Giacinta and Antonio Fazzolari have gifted their parents, Christina and Matthew Fazzolari, a romantic resort getaway in Port Douglas for February next year in a moment that was shared on TikTok.

Ms Fazzolari, a university student and retail worker, said it was a “bucket list” moment for her and her brother to be able to give back to their parents.

“They sacrificed everything to put us through private school so we could have a better life,” Ms Fazzolari said.

“My dad had a very big accident and injured his arm so he was off work for a good seven years or so and during that time my mum, with her $600 a week pay check, was carrying everything on her shoulders.

“Still to this day, my parents are trying to recover from all the debt they were in and recover from everything they had gone through, then Covid hit and my dad lost his small handyman business.

“They could just never get ahead in life,” she said.

Ms Fazzolari used savings from her house deposit to purchase the holiday alongside her brother.

“It is something we’ve always wanted to do for them,” she said.

“I could see that my parents really needed something so I took some of the money from my savings and spent it on them.”

Mrs Fazzolari said she was brought to tears when she realised what her children had done.

“We’re so proud of the kids, we always knew they were great and special and I know they’ve appreciated what we’ve done for them,” she said.

Their time in Port Douglas will be the first time the couple travel by plane and visit a resort.

“I’m looking forward to the different atmosphere, to relax, we’ve never been to Queensland so it will be so good to go to beautiful resort and do nothing and just enjoy each other’s company.

”I’m so excited, I’ve been searching where to go and a lot of people are telling us what we should do.

“It’ll be nice, now the kids are older they look after themselves, it’s our time now.”
