Rosie Douglas named as Tourism Port Douglas Daintree chairwoman

The Port Douglas region has a new tourism boss who has dedicated more than four decades to the industry and is excited about the area’s “tremendous potential”.
Incoming Tourism Port Douglas Daintree Chairwoman Rosie Douglas has experience spanning more than 40 years in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
Ms Douglas, who has previously held leadership roles at Tourism Tropical North Queensland, said she was committed to enhancing the region’s appeal to visitors.
She brings expertise in destination marketing, event attraction, human resource management, sales and marketing and partnership management to the role.
“I am honoured to take on the role of Chair at TPDD,” she said.
“This region holds tremendous potential, and I am committed to working closely with the board and stakeholders to drive sustainable growth and enhance our region’s appeal to both domestic and international visitors.”
In her previous roles, Ms Douglas has successfully negotiated strategic tourism partnerships with key players such as Flight Centre, Webjet, and Ignite Travel Group, as well as aviation partnerships with both international and domestic carriers.
Ms Douglas will succeed Cam Charlton, who has served as Chairman of the TPDD Board for the past four years.
He expressed his confidence in Rosie’s leadership.
“Rosie’s strategic vision and dedication to the tourism industry make her the perfect choice to
guide our organisation,” he said.
Her appointment marks an exciting new era for TPDD as we continue to build on our successes and explore new opportunities.”
Executive Officer Emma Tunnock thanked Mr Charlton for his dedication to the industry.
“His leadership and support have been invaluable, especially in navigating us through some of the most challenging times,” she said.
“Rosie’s appointment is a significant milestone for our organisation.
“Her proven track record and passion for tourism will undoubtedly steer TPDD towards a prosperous future. We are thrilled to welcome her leadership and look forward to the innovative strategic approach she will bring.”
Rosie Douglas will officially step into her role as Chairwoman on March 5, 2025
