Police have issued a callout for public help after a woman suffered serious injuries in an alleged street attack in the state’s Far North.

Police are appealing for help from the public following an alleged serious assault in Normanton in which a woman suffered a broken arm.

The 30-year-old woman was allegedly attacked by a man on Matilda St about 9.30pm on January 2.

A 24-year-old man was charged with contravening a police order, grievous bodily harm (domestic violence offence) and possessing utensils or pipes.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in Normanton Magistrates Court on January 20.

Anyone with CCTV in that area or witnesses who may have been near Matilda Street at the time of the alleged assault are urged to come forward with information, or report what they saw anonymously via Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
