A crime scene has been declared and an investigation is underway after a historic building was destroyed in a fire on the Tablelands on Wednesday night.
Emergency services were called to a Main Street address at 5.10pm, following reports the house was fully engulfed.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman the building was ‘well-involved- when crews arrived on scene.
“We sent five crews, four fire and rescue and a back up from the rural fire service for water,” the spokesman said.
“It took a while for crews to get it under control and we were around for quite a while after that.”
It is understood the Mt Molloy butcher shop and adjoining house were destroyed in the blaze.
The spokesman confirmed no one was in the building at the time.
“We had reports there wasn’t anyone inside, but crews were unable to do a search because of the level of damage,” he said.
A QPS spokeswoman confirmed all occupants were evacuated and no one was physically injured.
A crime scene has been declared and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam vision is urged to contact police.
