Mareeba woman arrested on Cairns Esplanade after allegedly biting two people including a police officer

Police officers made an arrest after they received a tip-off that a woman of interest had shown her face in public after allegedly biting two people separately.

Police officers have located and charged a 30-year-old Mareeba woman after she allegedly bit two people, including a police officer, in separate incidents.

Officers received a tip off on Tuesday afternoon that the alleged assailant was on the Cairns Esplanade; the woman was then arrested and charged with three counts of serious assault and one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Police will allege the 30-year-old assaulted another woman by punching her multiple times and biting her at Bunda St in Parramatta Park on January 18.

Police say the female victim was taken to Cairns Hospital for treatment.

Police will further allege the Mareeba woman assaulted a police officer in Mareeba on August 21, 2023.

Police say the woman bit the officer multiple times and spat in his face.

The woman was refused bail and will appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 24.
