Far North Queenslanders can now hire designer gowns at a fraction of the cost, according to Platinum Gown Hire owner Jade Turnbull.

The founder of Cairns Fashion Week opened her latest business on Sheridan Streeet on Thursday.

Her newest venture features designer brands, local designs, a selection of formal wear, evening wear, cocktail dresses and bridal gowns for hire between $139 and $199.

“It’s basically about being the ultimate destination for people to rent a breathtaking gown for their event,” Ms Turnbull said.

“Why pay for a $800 or $1000 gown when you can rent it for a fraction of the cost? Obviously with Cairns Fashion Week, we have access to designers so we’ll be bringing their designs in stock as well.”

With formal season and ball season beginning for some schools in from the mniddle of the year, Ms Turnbull said she was expecting her 200-strong collection to run out the door.

“Obviously formal season is coming up and ball season as well so we’re expecting to have them all running out the door. There’s every colour of the rainbow in here, it’s like skittles,” she said.

Ms Turnbull, founder of Cairns Fashion Week, said she hoped to make women feel beautiful from the moment they but make people feel beautiful when they walk in.

“We’ll be adding complimentary services so if you’re having an event, you can come in with a group of girlfriends and have a glass of bubbles. If you’re all renting a gown from us, we’ll do an add on service with hair and makeup artists and organise luxury transportation and everything,” she said.

Platinum Gown Hire is located at 126 Sheridan Street with gown hire bookings available via Facebook and Instagram.
