The Red Hot Summer Tour hits Cairns on May 25 with a stellar line up including rock veteran Jimmy Barnes and his daughter Mahalia Barnes.
Bring a camp chair or picnic rug and set up for an afternoon and evening of entertainment with gates opening at 1pm.
The program includes The Living End, Pete Murray, Kasey Chambers and John Stevens.
Jimmy Barnes, 67, has been pumping iron and swimming to be in top condition for the tour, after undergoing open heart surgery last year.
A brutal staph infection spread to his lower back and then to his heart, forcing the singer to have a lower back surgery and a seven-hour open heart surgery he admitted he was lucky to survive.
“I’m very happy to be hitting the road with the Red Hot Summer Tour,” he said.
“After my surgery, I am happy to announce that not only am I back on my feet, I’m fitter and stronger than I’ve been in years.
“It’s a great line up and it will be a killer tour,” he said.
The prolific performer has penned three books to date – Killing Time: Short Stories from the Long Way Home, Working Class Boy and Working Class Man along with a children’s book and a cookbook with his wife Jane, Where the River Bends.
The Living End smashed onto the scene in 1997 with their double-A single Prisoner of Society and Second Solution, and have released seven studio albums, two of which have debuted at number one on the ARIA chart.
Jon Stevens, whose hits include ‘Everything’s Alright and Montego Bay’ will replace Birds of Tokyo at this year’s event.
Pete Murray is one few Australian artists with more than 1.2 million album sales.
Kasey Chambers is one of Australia’s most revered singer-songwriters.
Her album The Captain, released in 1999, is still considered one of the most extraordinary and lauded debuts from any artist, and she hasn’t stopped since.
Mahalia Barnes offers guitar-driven gusty soul, rock and blues, and inspired by acts like Tina Turner and legendary Queen of soul Aretha Franklin.
Standard tickets are $139.90 and Rock Bar tickets – a private beer garden for 300 – are $289.90.
The concert kicks off with Mahalia Barnes at 2.20pm and climaxes with Jimmy Barnes at 8.15pm.
