Caravan at Gordonvale goes up in flames

A firefighter has been assessed by paramedics during a call out to extinguish a caravan blaze south of Cairns.

At 9.50am Queensland Fire and Emergency Services received a triple-0 call after an occupant of the adjacent house noticed smoke billowing from a caravan on the property.

Two fire crews, one from Gordonvale and one form Cairns responded to the call for help and quickly arrived at the Thomas St, Gordonvale address.

A QFES spokeswoman said the caravan was unoccupied at the time of the blaze and no one was hurt.

“The caravan is destroyed but they did put out the fire,” she said.

“We did have one firefighter assessed by Queensland Ambulance Service, we don’t know if was due to heat or smoke.”

Firefighters completely extinguished the blaze and have now left the scene.
