Barra legend lands big fish at Tinaroo spillway

A hardcore fisho has gone all-out to land a decent sized barra that was swept over the spillway at Tinaroo Falls Dam in an awesome display of commitment.

Jessica Bell spent New Year’s Day boating at Lake Tinaroo and went to check out huge volumes of water spilling over the dam and noticed a lad fishing from the bank.

Quick with the record button Jess captured an epic battle with the large fish.

“I doubted the barra would be on the bite after surviving the dam fall but dayum did this legend prove me wrong,” she said.

“I have no idea who he was, but he had about 65 people watching on, so it was good.”

Tom Hallam is the bloke in the video and growing up in Tolga obviously knows what he’s doing when it comes to landing big barra.

According to SunWater Tinaroo Falls Dam was at 102.46 per cent on Tuesday.

Due to barramundi needing saltwater to breed the Tableland Fish Stocking Society regularly releases fingerlings into the dam for the enjoyment of recreational anglers.
