A woman has died and two others were cut from their cars after a two-vehicle collision in the Northern Territory.
A Nissan X-Trail carrying three people collided with a Toyota Corolla, which was carrying one person on Kirkland Rd in Durack in Darwin’s satellite city Palmerston about 5.10am on Wednesday.
One woman inside the Nissan was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota and a passenger in the Nissan had to be cut from the wrecked vehicles by emergency services.
The fatal collision marks the 12th death on Northern Territory roads this year, with Detective Sergeant Richard Musgrave urging drivers to take road safety seriously.
“We are urging Territorians to take the Fatal Five seriously,” he said.
“Don’t drink and drive, don’t drive fatigued or distracted, don’t speed and always wear your seatbelt.”
Kirkland Rd has been closed between Elrundie Ave and Wishart Rd while police investigate the crash.
Anyone with information about the collision or has dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
