Graphic photos of the men’s injuries from the February assault were widely circulated in the aftermath of Welsh’s sentence, revealing purple bruising, facial cuts, and even a bloodied eye.

The sentence sparked chaos after about 5000 Corrective Services officers across 36 NSW prisons walked off the job in October.

Welsh was re-sentenced last month following significant backlash.

He is now serving a two-year and nine-month prison sentence, and will be eligible for parole in November 2026 as his sentence was backdated to May 2025.

A brief hearing was held before the NSW State Parole Authority on Tuesday morning.

He will remain in jail after the Authority confirmed Welsh’s parole remains revoked.

“He will remain in custody until 19 November 2026,” a State Parole Authority spokeswoman said.

Welsh was arrested and sentenced in 2021 and jailed for a maximum of six years, with a three-year non-parole period.

Following his release in June 2024, Welsh was rearrested and charged for allegedly stalking and intimidating a relative and his parole was revoked.

While in custody, he assaulted the four prison officers, leading to his sentence in October and subsequent resentencing in November following the backlash.
