Listeria has been found in Paradise Beach Purveyors Smoked Trout and Chive Dip 150g packages with a use by date of October 7.

The product is sold at IGA supermarkets in NSW, as well as Harris Farm Markets in NSW, the ACT and Queensland.

A NSW Health spokesperson said listeria monocytogenes could cause severe illness in pregnant women, unborn babies, neonates, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.

A NSW Health spokesperson said listeria monocytogenes could cause severe illness in pregnant women, unborn babies, neonates, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.

“The general population can also become ill from consuming food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes,” the spokesperson said.

“People should not consume this product and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.”

Authorities urged any consumers who were concerned about their health to seek medical advice.
