‘Suspicious’ fire tears through sports pavilion in Glen Waverley
A “suspicious” blaze has torn through a popular sports pavilion in Melbourne, with pictures revealing the extent of the destruction.

A fire has torn through a soccer pavilion in southeast Melbourne on Wednesday morning, with investigators now treating the blaze as suspicious.
Emergency services were called to Capital Reserve in Glen Waverly shortly after 4am on Wednesday after reports a fire had broken out at a sports pavilion.
Firefighters arrived at the soccer field to find a 10m by 30m pavilion engulfed in flames.
“The fire has damaged the entire roof of the structure,” a Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson told NewsWire.
Police confirmed no one was inside the pavilion when the fire broke out.
The fire was declared under control by 5.13am Wednesday, a little over an hour after the fire department arrived.
Firefighters remain on the scene as they work to extinguish the flames.
“The fire has been deemed as suspicious,” a FRV spokesperson said.
