Shocking footage has been released of the terrifying moment two service station workers were allegedly tied up with cable ties when armed men robbed a local OTR servo in South Australia.
Three men, including one allegedly armed with a crowbar, held up the petrol station in Port Wakefield, stealing cigarettes and cash on September 13, police said.
CCTV footage from the chain petrol store allegedly shows the suspects tie up the staff members with cable ties, before trying to break into the safe with a concrete cutter.
Members of the public arrived at the service station about an hour later and disturbed the suspects, police said.
The male suspects allegedly fled through the back of the building and were seen driving off in a gunmetal grey-coloured Holden Statesman sedan.
The vehicle was last seen heading south on Port Wakefield Rd.
Police said service station attendants had been left traumatised.
“These are normal people, going to work everyday, they are just trying to earn a living,” Senior Sergeant Ryan Nicholls said.
“There are a lot of hard working people in Port Wakefield and they don’t expect this type of thing.”
Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspects, who were wearing dark jumpers and pants with dark cloth face coverings.
Anyway who recognises the men or the vehicle have been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
