Gang associate identified in fatal shooting in Sydney’s west

Police are combing the scene of a fatal shooting and a possibly connected nearby car fire in the early hours of Monday.

An investigation has been launched after a man was killed in a shooting in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to Harold Street, Parramatta in Parramatta about 3.30am on Monday.

Underworld identity Tarek Ayoub has been indentified as the victim, according the Daily Telegraph.

He died at the scene.

He was a known associate of many of Sydney’s organised crime networks.

About 15 minutes after his body was found, a car fire was reported at A’Beckett Street, Granville, a roughly four-to-five kilometre drive from the scene of the shooting.

On the short suburban street police found a stolen sedan on fire.

Two men were reportedly seen leaving the scene in another vehicle.

There was a large police presence in the area on Monday morning with officers seen combing through bins.

Police are unsure if the shooting and the car fire are connected, but are calling for anyone with information or footage to contact authorities including Crime Stoppers.
