Man’s finger bitten in road rage incident in Melbourne’s east

Police are investigating allegations a man’s finger was bitten by another driver during a bizarre road rage incident.

Police are hunting for a driver who allegedly bit a man’s finger during a road rage incident in Melbourne’s east.

A 63-year-old Rowville man was driving westbound on Glenfern Rd in Upwey about 3.15pm on Saturday when he realised a car driven by a man began tailgating his car and beeping the horn repeatedly.

The Rowville man had been driving to the reduced speed limit of 40km/hr due to CFA backburning in the area at the time.

The two cars continued westbound before they both came to a stop side-by-side at the intersection of Napoleon Rd and Wellington Rd.

Victoria Police understand a verbal argument took place between the two drivers, who remained in their cars.

Both cars then turned onto Wellington Rd, Rowville, in a westerly direction.

It’s during this turn when the offending car allegedly swerved in front of the Rowville man’s car and stopped.

The other driver got out of his car and approached the Rowville man, who had his driver’s window down.

Police will allege the other driver reached into the Rowville man’s car and pushed him before he bite his finger.

The man returned to his car and allegedly drove off toward Wellington Village in Rowville.

The Rowville man self-presented at hospital where he required surgery for the wound to his finger.

Police are investigating the road rage incident and are urging anyone with information to contact investigators.

The male driver has been described as a caucasian male, mid to late 40s and was driving a light coloured Kia Rio or similar with a female passenger.
