A man has been knocked unconscious after he was allegedly elbowed in the head during a brawl outside a pub in Adelaide’s Lower Eyre Peninsula.
Emergency services were called to Port Lincoln’s Pier Hotel about 8.45pm Saturday following reports a person had been assaulted.
A witness filmed the alleged incident, with footage depicting one man allegedly kicking the 26-year-old before another man in a black singlet moves in and allegedly elbows him in the head.
The 26-year-old falls to the ground, with a woman appearing to call for help.
A South Australia Police spokesperson said the 26-year-old suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital in an ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas said while people were allowed to let loose with a couple of drinks, they could not “make completely irrational decisions” that put other people’s safety in jeopardy when doing so.
“We’ve seen tragically instances in the past where one punch, one erratic decision, can cost someone their life and put someone else in jail,” Mr Malinauskas said.
The alleged offender, wearing a black singlet and black shorts, was described as being caucasian with a heavy muscular build and short dark hair.
Another man allegedly involved in the assault was described as being of caucasian appearance with a slim muscular build, black shorts and no shirt or shoes.
A third man who looked to be with the other two was described as having a tanned complexion with a medium build, and wore a red baseball cap, green T-shirt and beige cargo shorts.
Police earlier wished to speak with the occupants of a silver Toyota 200 Series LandCruiser with a bullbar and black rims after a witness reported seeing the three men leave in the car.
Police have since arrested two men, both aged 24, at a Port Lincoln address about 9am on Monday.
The pair were charged with assault and are expected to be refused bail at Port Lincoln Magistrates Court on Monday.
