A nine-month-old baby has been rushed to hospital after being bitten by a dog on a suburban street.

A baby has been rushed to hospital after being attacked by a dog in a suburban street in Adelaide’s western suburbs.

The nine-month-old girl was bitten by the dog on Ashley St, Torrensville just before 8.30am on Tuesday, according to the SA Ambulance Service.

The nine-month-old was taken to the Women and Children’s Hospital for treatment.

SA Health has not confirmed the infant’s current condition.

The occupant of the home emergency services were called to said the attack did not happen at their address, as reported by the Adelaide Advertiser.

Resident Jany Godi told the masthead people were often walking dogs without leads in the area, which is near a primary school and preschool centre.

“A lot of parents walk with their kids to school along here,” Ms Godi told the Advertiser.

“I think the owners really have to secure their dogs, because sometimes they can be aggressive.

“Sometimes they will just come up and lick you, but you never know.”
