TOOWOOMBA Regional Council will upgrade a section of Boundary St to allow a direct route to the new Toowoomba Second Range Crossing.
Council has not released the cost of the project that will start in June and be completed in sections over the next three years.
Toowoomba Regional Council's Infrastructure committee chair Cr Carol Taylor said the construction fixed "the missing link" between Pedersen and Bedwell Sts.
Construction will also start north of Ganzer Rd-Hermitage Rd, with both sections expected to be finished by late this year.
"The Boundary St upgrade will provide a new entry point into the city from the TSRC and will cater for future growth in Toowoomba's transport network, including improved access to the commercial and industrial areas on Toowoomba's western outskirts," she said.
"The project also will include improved flood immunity through upgrades to drainage."
Cr Taylor said the remaining sections from Bridge St to Pedersen Str and the intersection of Boundary St and Ganzer Rd-Hermitage Rd would be completed by the time the TSRC was opened in late 2018.
The Boundary Street connection to the TSRC supplements the other interchanges for Toowoomba at Charlton and at Mort Street.
