BRISBANE West Wellcamp Airport general manager Phil Gregory says it's all action stations as the airport prepares to host a community day on Sunday
He said everything was being done to give locals a rare insight before Wellcamp went operational later this year.
"We're inviting everyone to be part of Australian aviation history as we unveil the first public greenfield airport built in Australia in 50 years," Mr Gregory said.
"It should be a popular day with more than 30,000 people expected to attend."
The community day will be split into identical morning and afternoon sessions. There will be improved traffic measures and ample parking.
Stonestreets Coaches will have 40 buses running tours of the tarmac and runway while another 40 buses will be used to transport people from the car park to the terminal and back.
Drivers commuting from Oakey are asked to go via Oakey-Biddeston road, while those travelling from Pittsworth are asked to use the Oakey-Pittsworth Road.
A portion of Cecil Plains Rd is to be opened up to three lanes to help the flow of traffic throughout the day.
