UPDATE:

Barwon Heads will look to claim three BPCA flags in a row from next Saturday after downing Anglesea in an A1 semi-final on Sunday.

The Seagulls set the Roos 212 for victory at RT Fuller Reserve in a rematch of last season’s decider.

And under-17s junior spinner Angus Mackie would do the damage for the Seagulls, who came into the game with nine wickets from 10 A1 games this season after making his first grade debut in October.

Earlier, the visitors started strongly with Simon Umbers (25) and Ben Harcombe (26) putting on 48 for the first wicket.

The Roos were reasonably well placed at 3-132, but the loss of Michael Thornton for 36 triggered a mini collapse of 5-24 with Mackie (6-29) taking four of the wickets to fall.

William Huby top scored for the Roos with 45 while one of the competition’s leading bowlers in Daniel Donaldson stepped up to claim 3-60.

Meanwhile, Armstrong Creek has put last season’s semi-final loss behind them with a comfortable win over Barrabool.

Chasing 212 for victory, the Bulls recovered from 1-12 with a 48-run stand between Shane Stevens (22) and Kane Pickering (16) before Daniel Maclean (4-43) and Jack Maclean (5-36) combined to roll Barrabool for 122.

In A2, Inverleigh coasted into the decider after easily downing Collendina by seven wickets on Sunday.

Set 110 for victory, Lachlan Platt remained at the crease on 61 not out to book a grand final berth against minor premiers Wallington.

It follows the Cobras’ eight-wicket loss to Drsydale in last year’s grand final.

Meanwhile, the Demons were rolled for 178 (Aaron Toole 63) chasing Wallington’s 231 for victory at Oakdene Oval off 24 overs in a rain reduced fixture.

Captain Matt Sampson-Barnes took 4-35 for the winners.

Roos chase 212 for victory in A1 semi-final

There could be a grandstand finish in the BPCA’s top tier with Anglesea chasing 212 for victory against Barwon Heads in an A1 semi-final at RT Fuller Oval on Sunday.

However, the inclement weather is expected to play a part with up to 15mm predicted in the area.

In a rematch of last year’s grand final, the Roos did well to pin Barwon Heads back after they were coasting at 1-100 at one stage.

However, runs outs of Max Melzer (69) and Daniel Donaldson without scoring saw the Seagulls lose 2-1 and open the door for Anglesea.

After Brent McMinn (40) and Angus Ford (16) steadied the innings with a 44-run stand for the fourth wicket, Barwon Heads lost both for just one run through the bowling of Jack Robinson (2-44) to leave the score at 5-146.

The home side managed to add a further 65 runs, largely through the efforts of Matteo Surace (27), leaving a chase of 212 for the Roos on day two.

Meanwhile, at Armstrong Creek East Sports Precinct, a 67-run stand between Ben Norgrove (57) and Daniel Maclean (50) rescued the Titans from 5-84 against Barrabool.

The wickets were shared by James Fisher (3-68), James Jirik (2-59) and Archer Jacques (2-59).

Jirik would take the big wicket of Armstrong Creek opener Clay Mulgrew for 10.

Mulgrew sealed the A1 batting aggregate for the second year running with another bumper season.

Wallabies recover from mini collapse to set defendable total

A2 premiers Wallington has posted 9-230 against Portarlington on Saturday.

The Wallabies did well to recover from a mini collapse of 3-9, losing Adam Southorn (nine), Sven Burluraux (0) and Matthew Sampson-Barnes (one).

However, Henry McIntosh (54) and James Sood (31) would combine to steady the ship with a 45-run stand for the fifth wicket.

Then, a patient Dane Wise-Graham (58 not out) teamed up with Billy Gravett (33) for a 78-run partnership ensured Wallington would post a defendable total.

Portarlington brought back Stephen and Riley Illingworth for the match after moving to Tasmania midway through the A2 season.

And the older Illingworth produced the economical spell of 2-23 off 15 overs, with support from James Tilders (2-29) and Brenton Toole (2-18).

Meanwhile, at Inverleigh Recreation Reserve, the Kookaburras rolled Collendina for just 109 — their lowest total since Round 8.

Corey Walter, fresh off 210 against St Leonards, top scored with 30 at the top of the list.

He would combine with fellow opener Jacob Gasior (29) for an opening stand of 36, but the innings would fall away as the Cobras lost 3-1 and ultimately its 10 wickets for 73 runs.

Daniel Midolo continued his strong recent form after taking 5-54 in Round 14 with 3-27 off 10 overs.

Austin Haygarth also grabbed 3-22 and Locke Perrett a cameo 2-3 off three, his first appearance at the bowling crease since early February.

The Kookaburras were 2-48 in reply with Lachlan Platt (22) and Will Stoney (two) at the crease.
