Caiti Baker didn’t know what to expect when she became the mother of a baby boy late last year.

After spending more than two decades performing on domestic and international stages, starting a family was a complete change of pace.

But six months on it’s safe to say she has loved every bit of it.

“Motherhood’s been wonderful,” Baker, the multi-award winning singer-songwriter, said.

“I’m loving every moment; It’s a whole world that I had little to no expectation about, and I am very grateful I’ve had the opportunity to experience it.”

After taking time to settle into motherhood, Baker is now ready to perform once again — exactly one year on from when she announced she was pregnant.

At the Darwin Railway Club from 7.30pm on March 21, Baker will take to the stage and perform some of her favourite upbeat hits – Zinc, Dust, Mary of the North and more – as well as some brand new, unheard songs.

She even suggested there may be a couple of surprises thrown into the mix, including a secret boy band.

Ultimately, it seemed fitting, Baker said, that her first show back as a mum would be one year on.

“I miss the stage. It’s definitely something I love being able to partake in when I am in the position to do so, which is why March 21 is really quite exciting for me,” she said.

While she hoped to perform more in 2025, her number one priority was being a mum.

“I’m working on releasing music as well and potentially doing a live show here or there this year, but mainly focusing on being a first-time mum, enjoying that because that’s all very temporary, and I’m never going to get those hours back,” she said.

“Music will be here forever, so I will continue to write and prepare to travel and tour when the time is right and do it as a little family.”
