Here are 10 local businesses looking to hire apprentices in the Darling Downs.

Whether you’re keen to pursue a career as a pastry chef, aircraft engineer, carpenter or hairdresser, there are plenty of options in the Darling Downs.

Energex executive general manager services Belinda Watton said the electricity distributor along with Ergon, would be inducting 116 new apprentices across the state next year.

Current vacancies in the Darling Downs region include apprentice electricians and distribution linespeople.

“Some people want to earn their qualifications and serve their community using their specialised skills to keep the lights on, the network running well, and delivering outstanding service under some pretty extreme conditions, from cyclones to bushfires, and that’s fantastic,” Ms Watton said.

“We have former apprentices who have gone on to complete degrees in engineering, business and other disciplines, and who are in senior leadership roles, and it was an apprenticeship that started the ball rolling.”
