Toowoomba has caught a case of Saturday night fever, with symptoms including the YMCA, robot and bus stop.
Disability service provider Wagtail Services is hosting an all-abilities disco dance party next weekend and all NDIS participants from across the region are invited to attend.
Offering an opportunity to meet new people, broaden social circles and show off their best dance moves, support worker Signy Arnason said music was highly effective for therapy and inclusion.
“Young adults with disabilities are no different from any other young person – they want to have fun with friends and meet new people,” she said.
“Music is something that everyone can enjoy and can be a way to engage people who don’t usually enjoy social situations.”
Stepping into the role of DJ for the night, Ms Arnason said those hitting the dance floor could expect to break it down to the Macarena, Nutbush and hits from Madonna, among others.
But participant Ella McGuire said Dancing Queen by ABBA would be the highlight of her night.
In addition to the disco, there will also be a sausage sizzle, lucky door prizes and games on the night and fancy dress is optional.
The event will be held at Drayton Hall on Saturday, October 30, from 6pm to 9pm.
Entry is $10 and attendees are asked to RSVP by phoning or texting 0488 747 132.
