Alice Springs crime: NT Police arrest 10 kids after alleged ram attacks using stolen vehicles

Ten kids joy-riding in stolen cars have been arrested after police vehicles were deliberately rammed in Alice Springs.

Two allegedly stolen cars were reported as driving dangerously through the CBD at about 3.40am on Saturday.

NT Police say their vehicle was rammed from behind on Todd St by one of the stolen cars.

Officers realised the stolen cars were targeting police vehicles.

Police allege a second police car was rammed by a stolen vehicle on Gregory Tce.

Both incidents resulted in minimal damage and no injuries, police say.

At 4.50am, police spiked one of the alleged stolen vehicles on Telegraph Tce, leading to the arrest of multiple youths aged from 13 to 17.

A 13 year-old was left in the care of a responsible adult.

The second stolen vehicle, a white Nissan Triton with Victorian registration 1WJ8AA, remains outstanding.

Two youths who were inside the Nissan also remain outstanding as at Saturday afternoon.

The owners of the stolen vehicles were unaware their cars had been stolen, police say.

It is believed the alleged offenders removed the keys from an unlocked cabin before stealing the vehicles.
