CROWDS generated by Toowoomba’s new airport have helped raise about $20,000 for the RACQ CareFlight helicopter service.

CROWDS generated by Toowoomba's new airport have helped raise about $20,000 for the RACQ CareFlight helicopter service.

Gold coin donations collected at yesterday's Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport open day have accumulated a great outcome for the CareFlight crew.

Fundraising manager Sarah Delahunty said the organisation was overwhelmed by support.

"We are so grateful to everyone who donated a gold coin, or more, as they entered and to Wellcamp and the Wagner family for having RACQ CareFlight Rescue as the charity of the day," she said.

The money will go towards funding the upkeep of the Toowoomba helicopter.
