Struggling families will be able to get their hands on discounted baby products after a whopping donation worth upwards of $250,000 was made to Lifeline.
Almost 30 pallets of 13,000 drink cups, pacifiers and hygiene products have been donated by TerryWhite Chemmart to help ease financial pressures on young families.
Darling Downs Lifeline chief executive officer Grant Simpson said the quarter of a million dollar donation was rare.
“It’s a very welcome surprise, it’s rare that we will get that level of generosity,” Mr Simpson said.
“A lot of our clients that we do serve are younger families, so it was a really appropriate gesture for them to support people that really are struggling to make ends meet,” he said.
The baby items will be distributed across Lifeline stores in Darling Downs and South West Queensland with proceeds to go to the charity’s community care programs.
The retail stores will ensure customers do not bulk buy products with the volume of stock to be monitored.
“It really is a double benefit in terms of very affordable price points for these [baby products], but then the proceeds from the sale in our retail shops go to the programmes that we have in place to support families as well,” Mr Simpson said.
