Woman in hospital fights for life after being crushed by bus

A woman in her 40s was found by paramedics unconscious and bleeding under a bus after a collision in Sydney’s west.

A woman believed to be in her 40s is in a critical condition in hospital after being crushed by a bus in Sydney’s west on Thursday.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to Humphries Rd at Bonnyrigg around 11am following reports a bus had hit a pedestrian.

Two paramedic crews, a NSW Ambulance inspector and the aeromedical team attached to the Toll ambulance rescue helicopter attended the scene.

There they found a female, believed to be in her 40s, lying underneath the bus unconscious.

She was suffering significant pelvic, leg and facial injuries.

“We treated her where she was, firstly bringing the bleeding under control, after which the patient showed some improved levels of consciousness,” NSW Ambulance Inspector Joe Ibrahim said.

Paramedics worked with the critical care team to stabilise her for transport.

She was then transported to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

“These injuries are life-threatening – and I really want to remind drivers and pedestrians to keep safety at the forefront of their minds,” Mr Ibrahim said.
