More than 100 Volvo vehicles have been recalled after a potential seatbelt defect was discovered.

Due to the manufacturing fault, 115 Volvo XC90 SUVs, manufactured between 2015 and 2023, have been recalled.

Belt buckles and lower anchorage points in the second row of seats can come loose according to the recall notice.

A screw within the mechanism had the potential to be unsecured and might not work properly in the event of a collision, Volvo Australia said.

“The occupant of that seat may not receive the full protection of the seatbelt system,” the notice reads.

“This could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”

Customers can check if their car is affected by the possible malfunction by inputting their car’s VIN into the Volvo website.

The popular Swedish car company has issued its intention to contact all affected owners in writing, with owners being encouraged to contact their authorised Volvo dealership to have the seatbelts replaced or fixed, free of charge.

For further information about the recall, customers are encouraged to call the Volvo Car Australia Customer Care Centre on 1300 787 802.
