A P-plater has been charged with drink-driving after allegedly smashing his ute into 10 parked cars down a suburban Sydney street.

Police rushed to West St at South Hurstville about 11.25pm on Saturday night following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

The 20-year-old driver was allegedly drunk when he recklessly drove along the street and careered into multiple stationary cars.

Footage captured on CCTV and obtained by Nine News shows the driver smashing into one of the many parked cars.

When he came to a stop, the driver then allegedly threatened to punch a resident who confronted him as he was about to flee the scene.

The 20-year-old was arrested and police say he blew a blood-alcohol reading of 0.138 despite the legal limit being zero for P-platers.

The man’s ute was towed away while he was put into the back of a police van.

A resident said he heard “several bangs” before coming out of his home to see at least seven cars on the street had been smashed, while another said it was “pretty infuriating” his car was damaged.

The driver was charged with mid-range drink driving and stalk or intimidate with intent to cause fear of physical or mental harm.

His licence was also suspended on the spot.

The 20-year-old will face court on May 10.
