Dashcam footage captures ‘creepy’ moment man tries to coax woman to pull over on NSW road

Dashcam footage has captured the terrifying moment a man attempted to coax a woman out of her car on an Aussie road.

‘Creepy’ act on NSW road

Terrifying footage has captured the moment a man attempted to coax a female driver to pull over on the side of a NSW road before he physically attacked another driver who intervened.

Police were patrolling Wyee, in Lake Macquarie, 40km from the NSW Central Coast, about 2.15pm on Saturday when they attempted to stop it.

When the SUV allegedly failed to stop, officers launched a police pursuit which continued through a number of suburbs in the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie areas.

A short time later, the same SUV was allegedly captured in “creepy” dashcam footage in Wyee at about 2.20pm

The footage, shared to Dash Cam Owners Australia, shows the moment a male – who was standing next to the same SUV – approached a woman driving home alone along Ruttleys Road and directed her to pull over.

However, unbeknown to the man at the time, the woman’s brother was travelling in a ute directly ahead of her and intervened.

“I had just dropped my brother off to his ute, and I was in my car alone as we were heading home,” the woman told Dash Cam Owners Australia.

“Old mate in the video let my brother go, but indicated for me to pull over and started to come towards the car. My brother saw what was happening and jumped out of the car but the man instantly became aggressive.”

Video footage shows the man, launching into a brawl in the middle of the road as he attempted to take a number of swings and kick the ute driver.

The woman, who watched the altercation unfold from her car, phoned police as she drove around the man and her brother.

Her brother was eventually able to get back into his ute following the altercation.

Many online were quick to praise the woman’s brother for stepping into the hairy situation.

“That’s creepy … Tried to get a woman that was alone to pullover,” one person wrote.

“Thank god you’re brother was there and switched on,” said another.

“So glad your brother had your back and had the sense something was suss,” another added. “Couldn’t imagine what would have happened if your brother wasn’t there. You staying in your car and then moving so your brother could leave was the most sensible thing you could have done. Always drive with doors locked.”

“OMG that is a situation no woman would ever want to find themselves in … thank goodness for your brother, but please be safe,” another commented.

NSW Police eventually managed to stop the SUV.

“Road spikes were successfully deployed at the intersection of Pacific Highway and Flowers Road, Catherine Hill Bay,” a NSW Police spokesman told news.com.au.

“A short time later, the car crashed on the Pacific Highway. The driver, a 46-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station.”

Police said the man was taken to hospital for minor injuries, where he remains.

NSW Police say no charges have been laid and inquiries into the incident continue.
