Woman sparks frenzy for $11 Bunnings item after viral video

The hardware store is experiencing a mad rush for an innocuous item after a Victorian woman shared a car hack many labelled “genius”.

Why $11 Bunnings item is wildly 'selling out'

An Australian has gone viral after sharing her “genius” Bunnings hack, sparking a mad rush among shoppers.

Maddy Ryan is one of countless consumers doing their bit for the planet by buying a reusable water bottle.

But the Victorian woman quickly discovered her 1-litre Frank Green canister sadly doesn’t fit in her car’s pre-existing drink holders.

Multiple brand’s have since created an insert that sits allows a standard drink holder to fit a larger bottle – but those can cost upwards of $30.

Maddy however, had other ideas.

The water lover headed to Bunnings where she purchased a piece of tapered PVC piping for just $11.05.

The 100 x 65mm PVC DWV Taper Level Invert slotted easily into her drink holder, which then in turn held her pink water bottle perfectly.

After, the clever shopper shared her “hack” on TikTok where it has subsequently blown up.

“Work smarter not harder #frankgreen,” Maddy captioned the short video which has been viewed over 2 million times in less than 24 hours.

Many were quick to commend the “hack” declaring it the “best ever” – as others said they were going direct to the hardware store to snap the item up.

“Thanks so much for doing this. I’m going to Bunnings to get this for my #frankgreen,” one commented.

“Not all hero’s wear capes, ‍️off to Bunnings I go now,” another said.

As one declared: “Well thank you darling im off to Bunnings to sort my life out.”

Others joked the hardware store will have no idea why this item is “selling out” – noting a plumber might struggle amid the frenzy.

“This is the best TikTok hack I have ever come across, mine usually just rolling around in my passenger seat,” one laughed.

“When Bunnings staff will be wondering why they are selling out of these,” another stated.

As one teased: “Then a plumber will need one to fix someone’s blocked toilet and can’t get it done as there are none left.”

One woman called Maddy a “innovative queen” as another wrote: “Oh clever girl *clap clap*.”

“Genius,” someone else declared.

“You just changed my life…. Thank you,” another added.

While many stated they would be using it for their Frank Green bottles, it works with any 1-litre reusable canister.
