A popular gay porn star was found dead in his home at the age of just 44 in what has been described as a “tragic, yet simple accident”.

The death of Tim Kruger, who founded the adult content company TimTales in 2009, was announced on Saturday in a heartbreaking post from his longtime partner, Grobes Geraet.

In a statement posted on the TimTales X account, Kruger – whose real name was Marcel Bonn – was described as a “sweet, caring” man whose tragic death has left Geraet’s “heart broken into pieces”.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share the news of the passing of our beloved Marcel, the man you all knew and loved as Tim Kruger,” the post read.

“To the public, he was the ultimate ginger porn star; to me, he was a sweet, caring partner of over 20 years.

“He was also my best friend. He touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.”

Geraet went on to explain that Kruger – whose production company was one of the biggest in the gay porn industry – had died at home.

“I am very aware of the stigma that surrounds deaths in the porn industry, so let me make this very clear to hopefully cut down on the inevitable speculation: Tim’s death was a tragic, yet simple accident at home,” the statement stressed.

“There were no drugs involved, nor was there any indication of foul play or suicide.”

While Geraet acknowledged fans were bound to have “countless questions”, he said that for now Kruger’s friends and family needed time to grieve.

“Though my heart is broken into pieces, I find solace in the countless memories he gifted us. And I know that he died knowing he was loved. Tim’s legacy of compassion, love, and joy will live on in all who knew him.”

Tributes have been flooding in for Kruger, including many from co-stars as well as fans.

“My heart is absolutely broken about @TimKrugerXXX. He was a beautiful person inside and out and a force in the industry,” one wrote.

“I still can’t believe it. I’m honoured to have connected with you in my life and thank you for the amazing human being that you will always be R.I.P. @TimKrugerXXX, WE LOVE YOU,” another shared.

As one said: “I’m shocked about the sad latest news and I want to send all my thoughts to @TimKrugerXXX he was so kind and a joyful, I remember when I first met him and how gallant and down-to-earth, the way he welcomed me and made me feel at ease.”

Kruger, who was born in Germany, had entered into the porn biz in 2006. Three years into his career, he founded TimTales with Geraet who assisted him in filming and producing films.

He later relocated to Barcelona, where he lived with his partner until his death.
