This MAFS dinner party proved Tori is the queen of deflection

They say love is blind, but girl, I’m genuinely worried about you.

Ben writes Ellie a song apologising for his behaviour - MAFS 2024

A dinner party is bound to bring loads of drama, and the fourth instalment definitely did not disappoint.

From Ben’s bizarre epiphany at the table after his Grammy-worthy ballad to his wife Ellie to Jack’s insincere apology to Lauren, the night’s fireworks came from Jayden, Timothy and Tori.

I’ll agree with you on one thing

To be fair, I can agree with Tori when it comes to Timothy.

He’s constantly giving cranky uncle vibes (you know, the one you avoid sitting anywhere near at Christmas), and despite Lucinda’s patience, love and understanding towards him, it seems he’s a grumpy old man that unless he opens up, will leave this experiment with the same relationship status he entered with.

Jayden’s interrogation of Timothy and his intentions to move the relationship beyond the friend zone came from a good place, as he puts our beloved Lucinda’s best interests at the top.

But it was met with yelling, below-the-belt comments and slamming fists on tables.

However, it seems Timothy’s comment that Jayden will “have nothing in life” seemed to really get under Tori’s skin.

“You look smug”

Lucinda, unimpressed by the escalating argument, fiercely defended Timothy, taking a bold stand at the table.

She opened up about the shifting dynamics in their relationship but didn’t hold back in expressing her disappointment with Timothy's behaviour.

Despite the tension, Timothy, softened by her words, revealed that only Lucinda has the right to call him out.

Timothy, wanting to impress the group, praised Lucinda, but Tori remained unconvinced.

Shooting a sceptical look at Timothy, Tori accused him of looking smug and said if Jack spoke similarly, her “foot would go down his throat”.

Timothy, ever the provocateur, pointed out Tori's apparent double standard when she didn't object to Jack's controversial remark to Jono at the last dinner party.

You’re seriously going after Cass?

Tori's frustration reached a boiling point as she insisted that Timothy was overly smug… Has she not looked over at her husband lately?

Cassandra, sensing the drama, threw in a cheeky comment, suggesting it might just be "Timothy’s face", and this absolutely set Tori off, leading to a heated exchange between her and one of the nicest contestants in the show’s history.

In the midst of the chaos, Jack attempted to comfort Tori, and honestly, it didn’t look genuine to me, and it seemed Jack was relieved he wasn’t in the spotlight at this dinner party for a change.

This is what fired you up?

Let’s pause for a moment and unpack this.

Tori is totally fine for her husband to tell her so-called “best friend” that she needs a muzzle, but Timothy’s comments to Jayden are where she draws the line?

Hmmm… it seems she must be blind in love, or perhaps she just didn’t think these comments were funny, but her husband volunteering his wife to sleep with other men is.

An exercise in deflection?

Maybe it was Tim’s comments a few weeks back questioning the legitimacy of Jack’s feelings that have put him on Tori’s hit list.

Jack hasn't been shy about confessing he's not physically attracted to Tori with the pair admitting they are yet to take their marriage to the next level.

Add to that the eyebrow-raising comments to Lauren, his guests at their wedding and volunteering his wife to friends, and you've got more red flags than a matador convention.

I’m no psychologist, but one could argue Tori is feeling totally insecure in her marriage and is looking to bring those around her down to feel better.

I think Tori is more focused on finding her happily ever after and ignoring the issues in her marriage at her own peril.

Plus, anyone who has a go at Cassandra is just a big bully in my books.

It will be another interesting Commitment Ceremony on Sunday night, and I wonder if Timothy and Lucinda’s relationship will finally be cemented in Timonthy’s eyes.
