As the weather warms up, mosquitos can be a huge nuisance at home, let alone on a camping trip where there’s nowhere to escape to.

But, Facebook users have come up with the best possible solution - and you can grab it from Bunnings.

Keeping mozzies out

Avoiding mosquitos is one of the biggest problems when it comes to camping, so much so that one Facebook user has taken to the platform asking for recommendations on how to keep them out in a way that’s safe for both kids and pets.

Commenters quickly came to the rescue with home remedies, like putting citronella and lime oil in a diffuser, or using sandalwood and cedar mosquito repellant and solar-powered mozzie zappers - both which can be purchased relatively cheaply.

However, one product in particular was a clear stand-out.

Thermacell to the rescue

Commenters on the Facebook post overwhelmingly recommended the brand Thermacell to keep mozzies away.

"Thermacell available at Bunnings and other camping shops and online," one commenter said.

"Thermacell definitely. Amazingly keeps the mozzies away," said another.

"Thermacell from Bunnings," echoed a third.

"We have the Thermacell and have been using for a couple years now. It works every time. Keeps mozzies and midges away," another person added.

The brand has a host of options which vary in their size and capabilities.

TikTok creator @shaye.duggan recommends the Thermacell Backpacker Mosquito Repeller.

“They work unreal, and they’re so easy to use,” he said.

“You just slip your little mat in there and they last about four hours each, screw it onto your gas and away she goes. They’re well worth the investment.”

Another creator, @4wd247, recommended the EX90 Rechargeable Mosquito Repeller.

“I have tried every different mosquito repellent on the market from sprays to creams to rubs, and I just keep coming back to my Thermacell,” he said.
