The hugely popular annual R.M. Williams clearance sale at the Adelaide Showground has been cancelled this year because of insufficient stock.

The renowned Adelaide-based boot and apparel maker has insufficient stock levels for the traditional June warehouse sale because of unprecedented demand, says R.M. Williams chief executive officer Paul Grosmann.

“This year we have seen exceptionally strong demand, particularly for our iconic boots that have been handcrafted in Adelaide since 1932 and continue to be 100 per cent manufactured in our Salisbury workshop,” he said.

Mr Grosmann said this demand was believed to stem from the firm’s commitment to Australian manufacturing and crafting lifelong lasting products.

“One consequence of this unprecedented demand is that we don’t have sufficient stock levels to stage the Wayville sale in Adelaide this year,” he said.

“However, a smaller sale event is currently running in R.M. Williams’ outlet stores, including Adelaide Harbour Town.”
