Rachael Finch shares her 'strict' routine for kids during school holidays

Not everyone will be a fan - but how would your kids go with this active schedule every day?

Rachel Finch slammed for supporting daughter while she runs

As school holidays kick off for kids in the private system, fitness influencer Rachael Finch has shared the daily routine she sets for her kids when it comes to activities.

In a story on Instagram, where the 35-year-old can be seen in a Zoom meeting at home, Rachael revealed her daily holiday schedule for both her and her children.

The day begins at 7am with coffee and breakfast and is followed by a shower and walking the dog, while the kids read their books.

She states that her children are 'allowed technology' while she's in meetings from 11.30am until 1pm and then it is time to stop for lunch.

The 'crazy cam' moment

The busy mum-of-two — who shares daughter Violet, eight, and son Dominic, five, with husband Michael Miziner - then rounds out the afternoon with more work and later tennis practice, dinner and dance practice.

According to the Daily Mail, the sports-loving and supportive mum attended her daughter Violet's tennis lesson on Tuesday this week to lend a hand retrieving balls and watch the game play.

The former Miss Universe has been criticised about her structured and involved parenting choices in recent weeks.

On 30 May in another Instagram story that showed Violet competing in a school cross-country race, Rachael’s self-described ‘crazy cam’ footage shows the back of her daughter as she runs in the school event, while Rachael follows along.

"I'm more nervous than Violet"

Apart from the wobbly camera style, Rachael can be heard offering words of advice and encouragement for Violet such as, “watch the rocks”, “suck in the air” and “go, go, go”!

Prior to the running footage, Rachael had shared another story of her before the race.

“I think I’m more nervous than Violet,” Rachael said.

“I’m running to the first checkpoint and I’m about to throw up! I’m getting all these feelings from when I used to do it.”

Soon after these clips were shared, Rachael began to receive criticism of her motivational parenting technique beginning with podcasters Amy, Sophie and Kate Tauber who devoted part of an episode of Outspoken to the controversy.

“At first I just thought, ‘oh she’s just one of those supportive parents’,” the Taubers remarked.

“But this was next level! I don’t understand how this school let her run behind her child during the race. Surely this would be really off putting for the other kids?”

"No need to shout from the sidelines"

Australian swimming champion Libby Trickett joined the conversation through a candid Instagram video that didn’t name Rachael directly, but alluded to her 'crazy cam' moment.

“You don’t have to be an expert, you don’t need to shout from the sidelines any recommendations that your kids should be trying to apply,” Trickett says in the video.

“We don’t need to give our kids advice or feedback (unless they specifically ask for our help - that’s the point of the coach!). Our job is simply to encourage, support, embrace, and let them know how much we love to watch them.”

After all the crazy cam controversy, Rachael shared a post with her thousands of followers which unapologetically showed her active family’s outdoorsy lifestyle.

"We've always got their back"

The Reel contained footage of both Rachael and her husband training with the two kids in the sunshine.

“We’ll never be too embarrassed to yell words of encouragement to help them accomplish their best,” she captioned the clip that showed her kids running in the park and playing tennis.

“We’ll never be too ashamed to scream sounds of praise if it gives them the growth that they need.

“And we’ll never be too shy to shout whatever we can if we know that by doing so, they are assured we’ve always got their back.

“Remember you’re the only one they have.”
