An influencer and physical therapist has revealed her one-year-old daughter has tragically died, just 10 days after her first birthday.
Dr Lizzie Kieffer took to Instagram to reveal she and her husband Matt’s daughter Lilian ‘Lily’ Louise Kieffer passed away last week. It happened just days after she shared a video with her little one, saying she “never forgot” it was the “whole point”.
Dr Kieffer has an older daughter, Mia, and is currently pregnant with another child. She said the family were “shattered” by the “mystery” of their baby’s death.
“Wednesday we woke up to a nightmare that we never could have imagined becoming our reality. Our Lily passed away,” Dr Kieffer wrote.
“Our hearts, our bodies, our soul ache for her as she was the pursuit of beings and brought light to every single space she filled. Our days are written before we were even formed, and in Lily’s 374 days of life, she taught us more than I think many could in their lifetime.”
Dr Kieffer, who teaches women pregnancy, post-partum and pelvic floor workouts, said the family doesn’t have a lot of answers and don’t know “why this is God’s plan for our lives”.
She said they may never understand the “mystery” as to why Lily died so young.
“We also have come to learn that Lily had a large mass on her brain that we could have never known about as she never showed signs. We won’t know more answers with many of these things for months until further testing is done,” she said.
Dr Keiffer thanked her fans for their words of kindness, saying her family and friends were supporting them during this “extremely tough time”.
“Lilybug, you are our angel. And we know you’ll always be with us,” she said.
“Daddy, Mummy, Mia and new baby love you so damn much and we miss you every single second.”
She also said due to the family tragedy, her business will still be running but she will be temporarily stepping away, adding the new program launch will also be delayed until further notice.
Many of Dr Kieffer’s social media users expressed their heartbreak and condolences for her loss.
“Words are so inadequate — I am praying for a unexplainable peace for you guys that could only come from God. You’re in every thought and prayer and if there are needs that arise for the day to day, please let your community know,” one said.
“I know it would be an honour to so many️ She is in the arms of the One who formed every part of her.”
Another said: “When a mother mourns her child, all mothers grieve with her. I am deeply saddened for your family and am sending you all my love and thoughts from France. May your little angel Lily rest in peace.”
“I have not stopped praying or thinking about you this week. my heart is broken with yours. I pray you feel God’s presence and strength from the unending prayers covering your family. I wish I had better words, I’m just so sorry. may we all live a little more like Lily,” another commented.
One said: “Lily was an absolute light. I pray for peace over you and your family. ️While Lily is in the arms of Jesus, it does not make the pain of missing her down here any less. I’m so sorry.”
